a quilty post and a tradition

You remember that quilt I was working last month? Yeah that one.
After making those trial blocks and gathering fabrics from different places and
folks generously offering fabrics from their own stash I ended up with this.
I took the picture before sewing all the propellers in place.
Actually this is not the final arrangement.

That part was finished by 10 pm Friday night. I then set out to free motion quilt this thing.
I'd never done this on a project this size. I had 3 rough starts. By 1.30 am I had had enough and put it away.
By Sunday afternoon with an hour to myself I was ready to tackle this. After giving myself a pep talk that
I can't expect perfection in everything I do, that I need to accept the mistakes I will make and move on.
I had to tell myself to accept the wonkiness and move on. This is for Aaron.
He doesn't care about the stitching. He just needs to be warm!

The first spiral. Don't look too close okay?
If you ask me though I think this quilt is fantastic!

And it's that time of year. The last week of school of this year and that means the decorating of his royal chariot.
I love doing this and have done this since Kindergarten. I don't know how many more I can do but I'll enjoy it while I can.
He didn't mind it this year. There was a couple years he didn't like it at all and the decorations came home
in his bag. I think it's pretty cute and a fun tradition. I got the idea from another mom with a special needs child.
