Weekend and Monday Quilt Progress

Someone mentioned in reply through email to a post I made on her blog that she was missing my blog. This someone is very famous! I mean published-in-a-magazine famous. Not just any magazine but my favourite magazine that I can't get around here! So in an attempt to make this famous, wonderful person happy and the other three people that read this blog, I'm going to try my darnest to post more often.

You remember on Friday I showed a stack of fabrics and then several baskets with fabric strips in them. Well over the weekend, mostly Sunday, I turned them into this:
blocks 1 & 2 of 12

and today I worked some more and turned them into this:
Monday's progress

In the first photo the square on the left corner: The center was bothering me very much. I wasn't "feeling it". It was rubbing me the wrong way and my brain couldn't handle the center being seperated like that by a strip. So to I unsewed the just center and reworked it. It took two hours but I'm most assuredly happy now.

The challenge I'm finding in this quilt is value. Fabrics are light or dark or medium. Two of the same of either gets washed out and then we don't see the squares in the squares in the squares. That's what I want! I've also changed my mind from the inspiration piece... still the wonky squares but since my fabric strips are limited I'm going to make 4 smaller blocks and fit them together to make bigger block to alternate with the bigger block. If you don't speak quilt-eze you won't get it. But if you stay tuned you'll see pictures of what I mean.

I must be the 4th person who reads your blog? ;) I thought maybe you were just taking a break from blogging so did not comment or email. I am happy to see a post again. How is Aaron?

I love all of your quilts. You have such a gift for putting the right colors and patterns together.
