A not so Wordless Wednesday

Houses quilt top~Done

This little houses quilt came about when I was challenged to use up my scraps back in the fall of 2008. I worked hard using up scraps making houses. I gave up after a few and put it aside. Then tried again several months later when more scraps became available. Then set it aside again. Then I recieved a book from a dear friend for Christmas and it gave me just the insipration I needed to work on this even more. Finally I had enough trees and houses to make a quilt top. This weekend through caring for Aaron, having a little friend come over for a visit and putting up with Aaron's antics, fun and not so fun, I managed to put together the top of this quilt. I must say it isn't so little afterall. 8 feet by 5 feet! EEKS! I was going to put on borders but realized it was already too long then with another burst of inspiration from that book I will put on borders on the sides of my favourite fabric I bought 6 yards of last year.
Imagine my joy when I realized sometime last week that I AM more than a mother. I'm a quilter as well. An artist with fabric and thread as my medium. What a beautiful feeling it was to discover this about myself. I have found my niche in this world. My raison d'etre. I'm making my mark on the Earth one quilt at a time.
