Last night after I put the boy to bed and the quilt top was all folded up while I contemplate what I'm going to do for the backing I decided to put my little bag together.
Quilting detail of the bag. I even quilted the straps!
I bought the lining of the bag last Wednesday on a short little excursion to my favourite place to buy fabric. It was an "impromtu" visit because after several years of talking about this place this woman who works next door wanted me to show her where it was. So off we went. Since I had done a lot of fabric shopping the day before I limited my purchases that day to 1/2 yard of this fabric I found on the clearance shelf. Shhh... but it only cost me 1 dollar! It matches perfectly with my bag and I don't care that it has little postage stamps of babies on it. (Lately I've been having baby fever but I'm single and no where near in my right frame of mind to have another child. I guess that fever hits all ladies at a certain age??) Anyway...moving right along....
Here is the completed bag that only takes just a few hours of your time to make. So fun! I learned a couple things while making it. I changed a couple things from the tutorial like not using twill tape as I didn't have any so I made single fold binding on the grain to bind the top edge of the bag. I also made my own straps with batting in them. A first for me. Although they are a bit on the short side but with my spindly arms they fit my shoulders fine. I have to rework the straps on this bag because they dig into my shoulder when I use it. No padding and just awkward handles. Now I know how to fix them...when I get around to it!
Have a great Monday!!

The bag looks great!
I think we all go through it now and again. I know I do, and I've had to have a hysterectomy.
Super cute bag! And way to score on the lining fabric for 1 dollar! Of course, I am mad jealous of your skills of free motion quilting. One of these days...
Super cute! I even love the baby/postage stamp lining. It's like a little surprise on the inside. Even better that you got it so cheap!
