Since last August it's been a bit of a challenge to get out to my favourite store where I buy fabric. I have managed to get rides there though through creative planning and a good friend who doesn't work far from there.
Last year at this time I was going weekly and now I'm happy to go at least once a month. They have such great deals that I'm always worried I'll miss out when I don't go. Being a subscriber to their newsletter I was made aware recently that they brought back the 1.99 bin. I managed to get out there last Monday and spent a whole 2 hours filling and emptying my cart with bolts of fabric. How I wished I had a bigger budget for fabric. My goal was fabrics for backings. 3, 4, and 5 yard cuts made it into my cart. Each of these pieces was 1.99 a yard. I did an internal happy dance because many of these fabrics go for 5 times that amount online.
There were many prints that didn't make it into my cart and I'm hoping that when I go back in a week or so I can get some more. You see the only downside to the 1.99 bin is that when it's gone, it's gone and they don't order more.
I've not been a very productive little sewing lady lately. I don't know what's gotten into me but I just can't seem to focus on a project long enough to make any headway on it. I've got several quilts going at once but they seem to be so tedious that I lose patience with them fairly quickly. I spend hours pouring over flickr photos of beautiful quilts and wishing I could make something, anything!! Yesterday after my little friend went home with her mama and my little boy was safe visiting his papa. I again stared at flickr for an hour and then a little voice in me said "Go make something, anything just sew SOMETHING!!" And I did. I sewed until 11:30 last night and sewed a few more hours this afternoon.
It's a quilt top that came together fairly quickly, although one of the borders gave me fits for 2 hours last night. I unsewed and sewed it 3 times and still it wasn't working for me. I then had to tell myself it wasn't a big deal and to let it go whatever was bothering me about that row and I sewed it on.
Now comes my next delemna: I'm racking my brain how to make the backing using what I have and not what I recently bought as that is destined for other quilt projects.... such is a quilter's life....

Love it when you get a deal on lovely fabric, and yours look lovely:) Can't wait to see your new quilt all finished.
Knowing you, you'll come up with some fabulous for the back in no time and it will be just as marvelous as the front.
I have been in an unfocused sewing rut for the last few months. YOU inspire me to get my bum in gear!
