Biting off more than I can chew

Two weeks ago I started a commissioned quilt. I had an inspiration piece of fabric from which to choose fabric colours from. I cut a tonne of strips then set it aside when I realized I didn't have enough solid green for the effect I wanted. So I ordered some and waited and waited. In the mean time I pieced a few blocks and then one day the solid showed up. Oh dear I says, it's a lot brighter than I thought it would be. Half the pile of strips I'd cut weren't going to work with this shade of limey green. I figured I'd work with it anyway. I showed it to the client and she said she liked it so I was good. Although I wasn't happy about it and wasn't liking it that much. I pieced all the blocks by last Friday. Monday I puzzled the blocks into a quilt top using the green solid as filler. I spent the morning piecing the backing, cutting the batting and making the quilt sandwhich.

Working hard....

I don't remember why I had gone into the sewing room but I did and inspiration struck me!! I had a bunch of leftover blocks from the grey stars quilt, which I've yet to reveal. I took those leftover 16 patches and put them on the design door. Some people have design walls, I have a design door. Anyway I set them on the wall like patchwork. I thought I'd use leftover solid grey in the alternating squares. Eureka! I figured if I made more blocks then I'd be able to make this a good size picnic quilt for a Father's day gift for Aaron's papa.

While pinning the other quilt I got a little sidetracked

I cut a bunch of strips to make more blocks and sewed a bunch together, cut and started to resew them to make 16 patches. I then realized my math was off a bit and I'd need to cut and piece more strips. Ugh. This is when I realized I may have bitten off a little more than I could chew thinking that I could get this quilt done by Friday. I'm not giving up though. I put in 7 hours of sewing related work today and I could do the same tomorrow and Thursday too and some Friday.
My body may hate me after this month. It may take all of the summer to recouperate from these 100hrs of sewing!!

Sorry about that green. I guess I steered you wrong, huh? I hope it's okay? The picture looks great!
