Success

Many years ago I did a big clean up in the house I lived at. I donated a tonne of books to the library. Back then I didn't think I'd sew anymore or make things anymore. I had just become a single mom and was learning to live on my own. Anyway trying to move on with my life I did the big cleanup. Only to regret years later when I got back into sewing again. All those lovely books. Sometimes I miss them. Once in a while I take them out from the library. I'm now in the process of slowly building up a nice craft book library with the help of Crafty's Choice Club of books. Tuesday I got a great book in the mail. I only need buy 2 books in 2 years to fulfill my commitment. I think I can manage that!

The dolly diapers were a success. She loved them tremendously!
I had leftover fabrics and decided to make a baby doll changing pad.
Again she loved it very much. She marvels at my skills. I point out the faults. Silly me.
I'd show you the fabric I bought today but it's washing right now. I'm going back Monday with a friend to pick up a few more different colours. When I buy fabric I buy it in 1/3 yard pieces-the way they cut at this store you end up with almost 1/2 a yard of fabric! I like lots of colour and variety in my patchwork. Like looking at a tree no leaves are exactly the same colour. That's how I see quilts. So much colour and each one speaks on it's own but all together they create harmony.
So this lady who I made the diapers for took me shopping to my favorite little store in Maine where all the fabric likes to congregate and discuss who is cheaper. I can only imagine the conversations they have at night...oh I hope that LJ comes today and I hope she picks me! Why would she pick you you're snot green, she doesn't like that colour. You wanna bet?
One day I did pick a funky green colour. I'd show you what it was for but I can't until some nice ladies recieve thier packages.

This store is sort of like a Big L*ts if you have those in your area. I was moseying along after picking some cute spring clothes. And I must mention how I found the absolutely cutest pair pants of similar to these pants. I love them!! I'm going to turn them into capris for the summer. Anyway....So I was going along my way to the fabric area and I saw a stand of these tshirts. Oh oh! I had to bring one for someone I know because he loves football and this is his favorite team. I haven't always talked about him in the kindest of ways and have failed to mention how he has a big heart and is does nice things for me almost every weekend Aaron is gone with his dad. He invites me for supper every other weekend, brings over his kids for me to see, takes me shopping if I need to go and other things that I can't think of right now. So I got him this shirt because I was thinking of him today and he's always bugging me to get him a hat with this team. I never think to look for the hat.

Aaron's Antics
I went outside yesterday to break and shovel the awful ice in the driveway that was making it treacherous for me to bring Aaron to the bus. I came back inside to find this at the end of the hallway. (Note to self: close the hallway door when not in use.) He found my bag of stationary and stickers and unused Valentine's Day cards and proceeded to empty the bag to find any treasures in the bag. He didn't find any but left me a nice mess to clean up.

Tomorrow after school I'm going back to school with Aaron to meet one of the middle or highschool teachers. Aaron came home with a newsletter from his school several weeks ago and there was a request from one of the teachers for any parents with skills in patchwork. I thought about that resolution I made at the beginning of the year for volunteering in the community and then I sent a card with Aaron for the teacher offering my services to help with any project that involved sewing. Unfortunately I have to take Aaron with me and that's not always an easy task considering his short attention span and it being out of routine for him as well. I'll let you know how it goes.

I use Crafter's Choice too. I have found many knitting books that I like there... There are so many different types of books offered at that website... I hope that all goes well for you and Aaron when you go to the school for teaching in the sewing class.... Enjoy!

Good luck with the patchwork meeting! I know what you mean - short attention spans and out-of-routine days don't often bode well for positive behaviour. That store sounds marvelous!

Hey, I like your new place! The thought of you not sewing send a chill up my spine! If ever there was a fabric master - it's you my dear. So happy you found your way back.
