unexpected

Saturday this bouquet of lovely flowers was handed to me by the father of my child.
Totally unexpected and humbled and appreciative was I.

Saturday I spent the afternoon replanting my tomato plants into bigger pots (hint to frugal folks-I used dollar store plastic garbage bins and poked holes for drainage on the bottom with a hot nail over flame to melt the plastic). I was dirty dirty dirty as were my clothes. Thus necessitated a gardening apron and voila this morning the minute the boy was on the bus I set to work. By 11.30 I had me an apron.

The apron is repurposed from a jean jumper dress.
I got to use the cool gadge of a ruffling foot! Oh what fun!

For Mother's Day I took Aaron around for a walk around the block and then we went for an ice cream at the store beside the house.
I took out the hose to clean off the porch and there was a puddle. Where you see a puddle you'll see a kid. I moved Aaron's wagon so he could play in the puddle.

It was a very lovely weekend. I tried to avoid my 2 of my favorite people but they tug at my heartstrings and I let them in after they rang the doorbell and pounded at the door for 15 minutes. They are just the cutest little nieces I know! And how fitting that they spent mother's day weekend with me because I really do feel like their mom in so many ways. I thank the universe for putting these sweet and beautiful children in my life. And I thank the gods that they go home too!

I'm going to try to have a kidfree weekend next weekend.
Try the operative word!
I don't know how to say no.

Nice flowers. Love the puddle photo. and the apron!
Here's how you say no... Put your tongue hard on the roof of your mouth. Push and make a forceful noise. Make your lips do a ring shape and say OH!
On second thought...Now if that doesn't sound like porn I don't know what does... hmmm.
(Ha but I bet you all tried this, didn't you!?)

Even the most motherly of people needs a kid-free weekend occasionally... Take T's advice (although try to avoid thinking of porn because once you do that's all you'll think of... ;) ) and say "I'm sorry, I can't this weekend. How about next weekend instead?" Then shut yourself up in the bathtub with a glass of wine and a good book and maybe some chocolate and enjoy!!
