less than 4

weeks until school starts. Not that I'm counting or anything because really our summer is going well, despite the lack of sunshine the past couple weeks. Ummm Hello Mother Nature Laura's calling and she wants her sunshine back. Thanks.

So I've slapped a few pictures here and there with a few words and call that a blog post. Mehhh, that sucks. So I have no pictures today but maybe some words! My brother's kids have spent a lot of time here this summer. It's been fun more often than not but I gotta admit tiring. His punkass youngest son spent 3 days here this week. Before anyone asks why do you let him come over well as I reply to everyone: He's cute! He tried my patience a few times but I've gotten through it without a drink! Woot woot!

I learned a lesson this week: If I don't have a camera it's not a big deal and to have the experience anyway because I will save in the long run. Case in point: I was looking high and low for strawberries all week. Could not find any. Finally we found a place out in the back woods. A U-Pick place. They were offering their strawberries for a buck a pound. Since I didn't have a camera I said forget it let's go home. You see my nephew was with me and I wanted some fun pictures and I forgot the camera at home. Today with the camera packed we set out again to look for strawberries. That other place was closed. Dangit! We found a roadside stand selling them for 2.99 a pound. Wahhhhh. Yes I wanted strawberries that bad and bought them. So the lesson was that I need to forget about taking pictures of an experience and just enjoy it.

I was tagged for a meme by GreeneyedMomster

4 things you should know about me before you invite me to your house. Here goes...

1) I've the height of a 9 year old when I sit in a chair, so if I'm coming over for a meal please stack several NewYork phone books on a chair. I don't like sitting down with adults and looking like a child in that chair.

2) I like music. Mostly all kinds of music, however if I hear a twang of country music I'm not even knocking on the door and I'll turn right around and go home.

3) If Aaron comes with me please make sure there is a playstation2 hooked up to your 42 inch screen tv so that he can play while we chat and and eat.

4) I don't like mushy fruit. Fruit does not belong in cake or any other such thing. I do not do mushy. (Although I do like avocados!)

That's not too bad eh?

You are too funny! I don't have the camera problem because I grew up with cameras using regular film and you were very selective about your snapshots because each one cost you! I do appreciate that my daughters and son all have digital cameras and take lots of pictures (even if they don't post them online frequently enough!)

Have you gotten your mini quilt from me yet? I sent it on the 23rd of July and was just wondering.

Glad to hear the summer hasn't been too bad so far and before you know it, school will be starting up again! Oh dear, what we bloggers go through just for the sake of pictures! lol What a shame you ended up having to pay so much more for the berries...a lesson well learned indeed:-)

I so enjoyed reading the meme...hmmmm, you may not want to visit me then since I love country music...I don't have a Play Station...I love using fruit in dessert recipes...and our phonebook is pretty thin compared to New York ones. lol xoxo

Hehehe...I've had that same experience with the camera. It's good to remind ourselves that we can, actually, enjoy an outing WITHOUT the freaking camera! Definitely cheaper, too. :)

Sounds like you're almost as short as me. Fun having 10-year-olds look down on you, isn't it? :)

Did you hear about the "pick your own" that had to close down because people were gorging themselves in the fields then returning with nary a berry in their pot ~ and yet juicy pulp dribbling guiltily down lips and face..!

This was in Britain by the way. Are you British? ... I cannot tell!

ha! i loved your meme. so funny. i have missed your humor. i have felt the same way about cameras and experiences. its hard when you want to document everything, but as you say, live the experience. there will be other opportunities for pix
