Wednesday I was feeling a little sad so I went for a walk with my camera to take a spf photo for this week. I walked behind the school and didn't like the scenery. I walked back home and was in the driveway and told myself just take the damn picture and get it done and call it good. That's what I did. One photo and I didn't look at it to delete it. I actually like the photo. Such expressive eyes.

The reason I was sad. I broke a dish. Not just any dish, a plate from a set of dishes my grandmother had in the 70's. I remember visiting her house and eating off these plates. When she had to move into a old age facility her sons and daughters cleaned out her home. My dad gave me a big box of dishes. Over the years I gave some away but always hung onto this one plate. For years it sat in my sewing room holding pins which you can see here and here. It balanced precariously on the ironing board for days and when I went to grab a book down it went onto the floor. It's my own fault it broke. I didn't take care of it. I need to learn to take care of what matters to me most. Sadly I'm not doing that. I think I've learned my lesson.
For those of you who need an Aaron-fix:
He came home from school making such a funny face I practically peed myself laughing.
He's discovered that he can cover his nose with his lip.
This kid cracks me up!

YOU are too cute for words too!
I'm sorry about the plate. You can always glue it and hang it in a safe spot?
Aaron is getting so big!!
Looks hella cold there! Sorry about that too!
Hugs and love, T
Aaron is adorable, love the silly face.
So sorry about the plate, maybe you could use the pieces in some art project(such as one of those stones with mosaic glass pressed into it).
I think you took great care of that plate and, in fact, honored it: you used it in your talented efforts to create. You looked at it every day; it was a part of your life. I don't think there's any better way to remember the dead than as we go about living.
The plate is beautiful as you laid it, particularly with the blue background. If you can let go of it, you'll always have that final photograph instead.
I am sorry about the plate, but Laura you can glue it together then set it in a box frame or you can do a mosaic with it, break it up a little more, and glue the pieces as you like them on a painting canvas or a piece of wood, then when this is dry you add grout in between all the pieces, then frame it what I did was make a little tray server with mine once the grout dries you varnish it with a clear spray varnish, soo cute.Anyway just idea's for you..
Aaron is cute doing that, its so sweet when they discover something new.
That's a good pic of you too!!
Diane
I love your picture!!! You did good! Sorry about the plate but...it happens to all of us at some time or another. We just get careless. And your are so right...Aaron is just too cute for words!!!! :)
I agree with the others - glue the plate and hang it up or make something else out of it. You'll still have it that way. Yes, it was broken, but you will have made it into something uniquely yours.
I am sorry about your plate :/ If you just feel like throwing it away, put in a bag and leave it in a drawer instead. You may feel different after a while :)
Aaron IS just too cute. I love the last photo, his smile is so sweet :D
