stash sunday

I'm so excited to finally post a stash Sunday.
I was prohibiting myself from bying fabric for a month or so because I kept telling myself I had enough fabric in my stash. I had gone a couple times to my favorite shop but was uninspired to get anything. I finished this the same week that this happened. I didn't have any real projects going on. My pink quilts can always wait because mama's always put themselves last anyway. A little seed was planted in my brain that I could make some comfort quilts for the grandchildren of my cousin who lost their mother. What an excellent reason to go shopping!
This is the whole pile:

This is for the little girl quilt which will have more pink prints in it with
this being the focus fabric and binding in pink.
The red you see on the bottom corner is for my pink and red quilt. Someday.

For one of the little boys I found this very fun focus fabric.
I've created a design and am ready to start putting it together this week.

The two orange-ish yellow prints are from Denyse Schmidt line of Flea Market Fancy. They are no longer in producing this line of fabric and since I see this so much in blogland I had to snatch some up. This is the 3rd time I've purchased these two fabrics in the last year. The first two times were half yards each.
This time I got 2 yards and I do hope I can hang on to every last inch. I'll be using some in the little girl quilt.
I was so happy to find the black floral so I could make some more of the 9 patches for my picnic quilt for this summer. My goal is to make 100 blocks for a layout of 10 rows by 10 rows with a finished size of 60 in. by 60 in.
(Did you know that one of my favorite parts of making quilts is all the math?
And this from a girl who hated math in school! )
The bottom print I liked it and it came home with me.

I believe that we are the mother's we are by the many women we come into contact with.
I must say that I'm a better mother for you.
This is for all you mama's out there today and everyday:

For all of you mams out there

Thursday I treated myself to a bunch of flowers that I will eventually plant outside.
If they don't die before the end of the month.
Have a great day!

Happy Mother's Day!!!!

I love the fabrics for the boy's quilt and it's genius that you found a fabric-stash design (the bottom print). To me, they look like books.

You're so generous, Laura. How kind of you to think of those children for some of your lovely quilts. (And I love teh photo and the story behind it in the post below about "gentle"--so sweet.)

I think the comfort quilts are a good idea. I think it would be nice also to include a photo of yourself so they will have a visual connection with you, this sweet family member who is thinking of them in this awful time.

I look at the quilts and blankets i make as a way of wrapping love around people, and i think they definately need as much as they can get at the moment. B.x.
