Finding Christmas::13::

Merry Sweet Christmas
Sweets that I made in the past week.
Christmas for me isn't festive without the baked goodies.
It was a big part of my childhood and I remember fond memories of my mom making lots of things. My favourite being sugar cookies with Memere's Gateau Dur (Grandma's Hard Cake).
Last year I learned how to make Date Squares-this year I mess up. For some reason I doubled the butter because American butter is packaged differently than Canadian butter and my brain didn't catch on that 3/4 of a cup is not 3/4 of the box.
I've got new recipes that are old favourites from wonderful bloggers which people now get excited when I make them.
Oh there's so much tradition and memories wrapped up in baking for the holidays.
I wish you all could come and taste everything and take half of it home because I'm like that.

Looks yummy! I'm hoping to do some baking today. So Shawn can take them in to the guys at work. Happy holidays friend!

The baking is what I remember the most too...though somehow I'm always surprised when the treats aren't as good as I remember...so much rose coloured glasses I guess.

It really warms my heart to know that you now make some of my Christmas cookies/squares that I've been making for over 33 years and that my mom made before me:-)

I wish I could come over and sit down with you for a plate of your cookies and a cup of hot chocolate...with a candy cane to stir it with of course! hehe

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas, dear Laura and may all your dreams come true during this magical season! xoxo
