Just in time for Christmas I found it. There was a little family drama involved but everything resolved itself and most of everyone I know was happy for Christmas.
The highlight of this year's Christmas festivities is my boy playing Santa. I wish I had put a hat on him to fullfill this role he played. He passed out gifts to me or himself Christmas morning. Oh but I had to wait an hour and a half while he had "musictime" first. Silly boy, makes Chrismtas presents wait for Music.
Everyone learned that Aaron loves puzzles. He recieved a lot of puzzles this year. His favourite is one mama had gotten for his birthday but forgot to give it to him:
I love challenging him with new and interesting things. This was a round alphabet puzzle that took him no time to put together. Then he redid it again and again.
Santa/Aaron was good to mama (with mama and Amazon's help of course):
Several books and a moleskine journal. I'll talk more about them in my resolutions 2010 post sometime this week.
Santa's elves from far away sent me this:
I love the printed fabric with writing and newsprint!! Thank you Fabric Elf!!
Santa didn't send this but I won it through Imagingermonkey's blog just signing my little old name to a post one day. I won it through Thistlehillfabrics. She was VERY generous with her gift!! I got to pick out all of this and I couldn't be more pleased!
I have to say in conclusion this has been a very exceptional Christmas in a long time. I took a few days in the beginning of the month to mope as I'm wont to do every year but I gave myself no more than that. I learned to appreciate what I do have and to find the little glad tidings of the season. I think the best gift I realized most is seeing the amount of progress Aaron has made from last Christmas to this one. Outstanding!
Here's a little story to warm your heart:
Last week during Aaron's "do-stuff-time" (medical stuff that has to be done every 4 hrs) he started to cry. Really cry like his heart was broken. I didn't understand what was going on. Nothing happened out of the ordinary and he wasn't hurt physically. He must have been thinking of something and got sad. In my frantic worry of trying to find out what's going on I asked him a dozen questions to no avail. All of a sudden he lifts both arms up towards me like a little child would do when they need to be picked up. Aaron has never done this before. I grabbed all 80 pounds of him as best I could and hugged him tight the poor dear. After several minutes he calmed down and we were able to carry on with our day.
The power of a hug is a priceless gift. Quick! Go hug someone right now!!

What a great heartwarming story. We are never too old or too big for hugs! And woot -- you really cleaned up in the fabric department! Can't wait to see what you make with all of that.

Great story, Laura, and oh so true! Hugs do work miracles!
I'm so happy that you found Christmas and had a wonderful day; how cute Aaron must have been playing Santa...and waiting till after music time!
The Aaron story just brought tears to my eyes...he just wanted his momma's hug to make it all better!
Glad you found Christmas! My mom told me that when they were young they had to eat breakfast, wash, dress and watch the queen's address on tv before they could open presents. And there were 4 kids to get ready. :)
That reach out...oh God you must have just burst. I'm so happy things went well for you this year, at least the most important. Good for you for fighting through it all and having a great holiday.
Sending you and Aaron some big holiday hugs from Memphis!
