Weekending

Friday night after Aaron left I didn't want to start a new project with just a few hours left in the day. I hemmed and hawed for an hour then decided oh heck I'll go and try my hand at making the the bag on the cover of my latest Marie Claire Idees magazine.

This is the front of the bag which took me 4 or so hours just to put together. I decided to just applique a hexie flower onto the back of the bag and call it good. It is still undone so I'm adding this to the unfinished pile.

bag for the summer

To recharge my own batteries and get out of my house I decided to go exploring my little area. I've lived here almost 3 years and have never gone on a real walk to discover nature.

I set out Saturday afternoon and walked not far from my house and saw a big field like area thinking there could be a trail down to the river. I was right and I found the river and a little area to set up a little spot to soak up some sun and admire the view:

The view from where I sat:

From where I sit

I find it fascinating that I was sitting in one country while looking across the river at another country.

It was a beautiful day and and I couldn't stay out there all day or I would have cooked myself to a crisp. We've been having many hot beautiful days lately. Ugh. Summer has come early in my part of the world.

The rest of the weekend was spent in a whirlwind of kids from my nephew staying over night Saturday and he went home Sunday morning. I then went visiting with a friend and taking her daughter home with me and then Aaron coming home Sunday and the friend's daughter leaving after supper this evening.

Now I'm going to rest tonight because we have a 4 day school week and I have a big project to work on!

But before I go I'll just have one more reminisce by the river...

What a lovely view! And cool that you live right on the border. That sounds perfectly exciting to this gal who is smack dab in the middle of the states! :) Thanks for the birthday wishes, too, by the way. I love the Beatles!

Living in Australia, living in one one country and seeing another isn't something that I can even imagine!
