More sewing!

homemade dresden, originally uploaded by LauraJ_Sews.

Although I am not back in full swing yet I am making some progress on many projects all at the same time.

This little dresden was fun to sew up.
Finishing details

I tried looking online for free patterns of Dresden plates and couldn't find any to my liking. So I got out the geometry set and drafted my own. I was a little off but after squaring up the pieces I was able to fit it all together nicely and it made the prettiest little block. I sewed it onto the grey stars quilt which is now at this stage:

waiting...

Binding!! Of course true to form I am avoiding the making and the sewing of it to the quilt. Instead I have danced around the sewing room from this project or that project.

Like setting up a new ironing station in the room:

making 12 6.5 inch star blocksd for a flickr quilting bee:

and putting together more quilt tops:

Instead of sewing the binding on the grey stars quilt --and making a bag for my other niece as promised-- I rather be I'm working on my Japanese x&+ blocks. I'm up to 6 blocks now! I do have a whole mess of other bits and pieces cut out for the different parts. Once I have a nice pile the sewing should be streamlined. One can only hope because I overthink every piece of patchwork I do, and it takes me twice as long to make a quilt as it would someone else.
