I am chagrined to admit that I am not a good housekeeper. I know I'm home all day and I could clean my house but the kid in me says why when there are so many other fun things to do like SEW!
Of course every once in a while I make an effort to tidy something to at least make it appear that I try. Let me say that we don't live in filth and we don't belong on Hoarders. Although if I don't get the sewing room in order sometime you may find me on Buried Alive (under a pile of fabric).
We live in a time when we need more more more to be happy happy happy. I am hoping to stop this mentality and be grateful for what I have and use what I have, in regards to the sewing room. Everything else will have to wait for another purge and sort day. Just don't open the closets please.
While working on a quilt yesterday I missplaced one of my sewing machine feet. I looked everwhere in the sewing room and kitchen. I couldn't find it. In the process however I found 7 seam rippers. 7!! Yeah that's a little embarrassing. I'd have one, missplace it and go buy another. A couple of them came with my two Jans.
So now I decided to store them in this little jar on a shelf and remember to always put them in the jar when not in use.
Does one ever really learn better housekeeping skills??

I haven't yet learned to be a good housekeeper and I'm 39 years old!
Somehow it's always easier to buy new rather than search for the old.
I lose and break seam rippers all the time. I keep at least 4 or 5 around at all times and even carry one in my purse. If the stash gets low, I go buy some more when notions are 50% off. You can never have too many :)
I am chuckling only because I have turned my house upside down to locate a seam ripper just recently.
Great idea!
Everytime there are notions on sale I buy more - they are like socks in the wash :)
