abounding

One day there was a woman browsing flickr. She came across a person's photos and fell in love with the style of this wonderful lady's sewing skills. Then another day this woman wondered if the lovely lady would like to swap. The lovely lady said Yes! Can we bring someone else on board with us also and have a 3 way swap she asked. Sure the girl replied it sounds like fun.

The lovely ladies and the girl each contributed one challenge to the swap

a bird in some form or fashion

striking use of colour

a new technique or style that the sewist hasn't done before

The woman set out to make something worthy enough for such skilled sewists.

She came up with this design using leftovers from an in progress quilt for her son.

Her favorite part was sewing on the swirly bird. Nothing is more relaxing than working with needle and thread in her hands. She also sent along some fabric pieces to each lady.
In return she recieved this quilt and a nice pile of fabric from this lady.

Upon opening her package at 11 pm Saturday evening by the light of her monitor, the woman gasped at the beauty she saw. The stitching! The colour! The stitching! The colour! she exclaimed. And proudly showed off her new possession to her nieces who weren't as interested in the packages as their eyes were more focused on the movie they were watching.

The next day the woman was able to inspect the work more carefully, and this time the nieces marvelled along with her.

The fabrics the same lovely lady sent along with the little quilt.

There were two packages to open that evening and once the first package was opened the woman dove into the second one. Her first reaction was why would she send me a box of garbage bags? To which her nieces responded it's not that! Carefully the woman opened her package and gasped yet again. The colour! The design! The colour! The design!
Everything was placed on the kitchen table and the following morning the woman was able to better admire the beautiful work both ladies put into thier swaps.
This lady also sent some fabric.

I want to thank both ladies for such a job well done. I think these are two of the most talented sewists I'm privedged to have swapped with. I wish I had as much talent in my whole body as they do in their pinky finger.
The teeny tiny vase was a vintage surprise gift from Lucyellen06. Thank you dear!
I made the tissue paper carnation.

I have had a great time watching y'all post your swap quilts on flickr. Every one of them is covet-worthy.
