I found a big bin of things that I like to keep (hoard) for Aaron for that day he might become interested in them. In this bin are activity books and pages and colouring books and pages up the yin yan. I pulled one out today. A simple draw a straight line from point A to point B type. Once he drew the lines I turned the paper over and had him practice his name. He wrote it 4 times without any help from me. No hand over hand, no hand holding his wrist or elbow. All. By. Himself!
One very delighted and proud mama today!
On the roster for the summer will be lots of writing skills practice.
He doesn't like it and only tolerates it less than 5 minutes. If I do 5 minutes a day over 2 months I figure that would count for something.
And what if I did it 2 times a day and we'd have 10 minutes a day! He'd get used to it and hopefully enjoy making letters. Once he realizes letters make words and then words can help him communicate!
I think I'm onto something!
My boy can write T!!!
PS~Thank you all for the quilt love! I do love it so much and he doesn't mind it on his bed either. Aaron has issues with changing things so I thought he'd have a fuss when this was on his bed but he proved me wrong. I think he likes it.

P.S. Of course he likes the quilt... he can feel the love that's sewn into it. :)
Yay Aaron! That is wonderful that he is writing his name - and I think you're on to something too :) I can't wait until Kayla is writing her name, but she doesn't much care for writing either.
I'm so glad he likes his new quilt- you put so much time and love into it!
I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to comment much lately; I don't know when I'm ever going to catch up...but I do read and keep up with you via bloglines even if I can't comment every day!
