A little quiltie for a little sherpa

Despite life's curveballs I am managing to make time for sewing. Some things I can't share because the are for a swap and I don't want to ruin the surprise. But I can share a little quilt I made several weeks ago now that it is delivered to the new owner.
Many weeks ago a friend posted a bunch of photos of Japanese fabric scraps up for grabs. I'm a sucker for the cute and asked/begged what I could send her. She was interested in some woodgrain I had scored this fall. I said sure then after piecing the backing of a quilt and setting some aside for binding there was only a little piece to send and I felt kinda cheap. So I went off to my fave shop and found a couple fabrics and added a couple more from my stash and then I didn't feel so bad anymore. I really wanted to surprise her since she had just had a baby and thought that I'd make a wee quiltie with some leftover squares I had from making this quilt.

Here is a closeup of the backing and binding. She loves it and I am thrilled. The baby is adorable!! Doesn't he look like a wee sherpa? All he needs is a flock of wee sheep.

My Christmas wish for you, my friend
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun

I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer

May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought

May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold

I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friend
And a happy New Year, too .. xoxo
